John Abraham is an actor who has proven time and time again to be one of the most successful and profitable box office stars. He keeps reinventing himself. From being a sex symbol in Jism – his first movie to being a lovable thug in Dhoom, doing comedy in Dostana and then doing all those action movies – he left his fans guessing what was to come next.
Today, in an interview with The Times Of India, the actor opened up about his long career in the industry which is known for its fierce competition and how it continues. He said, “I’m only interested in work. I have never participated in rat races and have chosen to work only on instinct. Over the years, a certain space has become mine. Sometimes only the director and I saw the films I was involved in, but that didn’t deter me.
In his latest film he first teamed up with Emraan Hashmi in the Mumbai saga and people loved watching two actors together on the big screen. Speaking about his association with Hashmi, he says it was fun working with him and the two are safe actors and that’s the advantage. Speaking further, he said, “We are now in a much more mature place as actors. We are in this space where our audience does not float according to what we are doing. We have their confidence. Audiences will watch a Sanjay Dutt or Salman Khan movie regardless of what they are doing because their audience is fixed. It does me good that, big or small, we have a fixed audience. In those 18 years, I don’t think Emraan and I have even come close to working with each other. But what’s really cool is that we’ve worked with a set of similar directors, our initial film training came from the same place, and we both have a similar working process. The difference is that even though I had several action movies, Emraan walked away with all the great songs.
John Abraham will next be seen in Attack, Satyameva Jayate 2, Ek Villain 2 and Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan.
