Former ECW star New Jack dies




PWInsider Reports this old ECW Star New Jack died Friday after suffering a heart attack. He was 58 years old at the time of his death.

New Jack, whose real name is Jerome Young, died in North Carolina, where he had lived for the past few years. News of New Jack’s unfortunate death was revealed to PWInsider by his wife, Jennifer. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson also wrote a detailed tribute to New Jack, a wrestler always surrounded by controversy.

IMPACT Wrestling and the legendary Iron Sheik, along with many other members of the wrestling world, responded to New Jack’s passing with the following tweets:

New Jack’s wrestling exploits are often overshadowed by his controversial personality, both inside and outside the ring.

New Jack made his ring debut in 1992 after being trained and mentored by the late Ray Candy. New Jack had his great luck working with Jim Cornette at Smoky Mountain Wrestling, where he wrestled in a tag team called “The Gangstas” alongside Mustafa Saed.

New Jack drew a lot of attention for its gadget, which was inspired by the movie “New Jack City”. His interviews and edgy promos made him a recognizable face, and it helped him rise through the ranks in the company.

Jack signed with Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in 1995, and the promotion’s intense and bloody brand of wrestling fit in well with New Jack’s stance towards the company.

New Jack has won the ECW Tag Team title three times; however, his stint at ECW is remembered for his wild style. New Jack’s outrageous stunts have always managed to attract attention, but all the work in the ring ultimately took its toll on his body and his health.

Additionally, New Jack was infamous in the wrestling community for the nasty blade-related cuts on his forehead. The transit incident we are still talking about it to this day.

New Jack’s career has received a lot of attention over the years, and it has even been covered on an episode of VICE TV’s “Dark Side of the Ring.”

Beyond all controversy, New Jack has never shied away from putting his body on the line to be the most extreme version of himself and deliver jaw-dropping performances to fans.
