MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas 3 × 3 is set to return to training camp on Saturday and head into the final stages of his preparations for the Fiba 3 × 3 Olympic qualifying tournament in Austria.

Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, CJ Perez, Moala Tautuaa and substitutes Santi Santillan and Karl Dehesa will travel to the Inspire Sports Academy for another training bubble before leaving for Graz for the OQT from May 26-30.

Joining the squad at Calamba are training players Tonino Gonzaga, Agosto Flor and Malick Diouf giving Ronnie Magsanoc’s men a semblance of competition.

“We are looking to simulate the opposition the Gilas 3 × 3 national team will face in the OQT,” Magsanoc said. “We also want to give our national players the chance to mingle with different combinations.

This will be the first time Pasaol has joined the team’s training camp as he did not clarify the necessary health and safety protocols before entering Inspire.

Pasaol, however, is delighted to be joining his teammates for the final phase of preparation.

“While they were in the bubble I was doing my own training and taking responsibility for when I got into the bubble I was ready,” Pasaol said. “I am convinced that I can give my all in the remaining workouts before OQT.

Gonzaga and Flor have already helped train Gilas ahead of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, while Diouf will help with the preparations for the first time in his career.

Diouf previously played for Centro Escolar University, but the 6-foot-10 center has since moved to the University of the Philippines.
