Meghan McCain awkwardly praised merit-based … to a nation that didn’t ask

See! An urgent shipment of the Algonquin children’s table:

For non-tweeters:

MCCAIN: “So we’re going to a place where even though people need money, even though people are qualified to enter the Ivy Leagues, race and gender are more important than your qualifications, the content of your character. . This is not what Martin Luther King Jr. preached. I think it’s a very, very slippery slope. I was very surprised to hear someone like Tammy Duckworth say something like that. She had a lot of backlash from a lot of people, not just the right wing, and I think that’s actually just the natural progression of identity politics. And I’ll say, just to put a cap on it, View turns 25 next year; We’ve only had one Asian-American co-host on this show, so does that mean one of us would have to leave at some point because there isn’t enough representation? ? We are talking about “is identity politics more important than the qualifications of a job?” and I think this is an issue in the future that the progressive left will have to reconcile.

Now, I could end this argument with just three words – “President Donald Trump” – but there is a little more to unbox here.

First off, McCain had better be careful not to say things like “one of us should go at some point.” Looks like she got this job sending more Wheaties boxtops than Ann Coulter’s vestigial twin, but the real Even less impressive is why she has a paid job: she’s the daughter of a U.S. senator for six terms. It tends to help when filling out applications.

Also, at what point did Whoopi Goldberg’s soul completely leave his body and enter a nearby coffee percolator? Because I can’t believe she could sit there listening to that guts without putting her head in an old diving helmet filled with scent salts. It’s only a matter of time before she beats this licensed moron to death with her Ghost Oscar.

Representation is important, especially when it comes to high-level jobs in government and, uh, in the media. And someone who was placed on third base as a pinch runner probably shouldn’t be complaining that the batter on deck hasn’t proven she can hit brittle balls.

Further, McCain the Younger’s reasoning depends entirely on the racist assumption that the only reason people of color get hired is for some form of affirmative action, when we all know God wanted people to move forward. depending on how many powerful white men they know and / or which royal kidneys they come from.

So McCain’s rant isn’t just insulting – it’s hopelessly misinformed.

Then again, she is a Republican, and that’s just the kind of soft reasoning you would expect from one of his ilk.

Oh, and not for nothing, Twitter users continue to document what appears to be a longstanding silent protest against the senator’s daughter.
